Creating a portable UniGetUI installation
This page shows the (simple) steps that should be followed to be able to get a portable UniGetUI installation.
- Get a copy of the UniGetUI binaries. You can get them by downloading the file UniGetUI.x64.zip from the latest GitHub Release
- Extract the compressed folder and find the UniGetUI.exe file. Double-click it to launch UniGetUI
- Now, you have a portable installation of UniGetUI 🙂.
However, the settings will be stored on a user basis, and if the binaries are placed on a removable storage, the settings will not be kept back. In order to maintain settings, please follow the steps below on Storing settings with alongside the binaries
Storing settings with alongside the binaries
In order to make UniGetUI store the settings alongside the binaries, to be able to install UniGetUI on a USB stick and use the installation across different machines, please follow this steps
- Locate na navigate to the UniGetUI folder (where the UniGetUI.exe file is located)
- Create an empty file named ForceUniGetUIPortable, without any extension, and place it on the same folder
- After restarting UniGetUI, a folder named Settings should have been created, containing UniGetUI settings and other data.
WARNING: Sensitive data such as proxy settings or GitHub credentials will NOT be usable across machines
